Series 7 Exam: How Many Questions Can You Miss?

You can miss about 35 of the 125 scored questions on the Series 7 and still pass. Passing score: 72% — roughly 90 correct answers.

Why "about": FINRA uses scaled scoring, and 5 of the 130 questions are unscored pretest items you can't identify. The numbers here are the published specs — treat the margin as a close approximation, not a guarantee.

Tip: aim for a consistent 80%+ on practice material before booking — test-day nerves eat margin.
